Ex Forest of Dean, now tackling rural Welsh environment issues with a sad heart [and a little humour]....beautiful riverbanks overhung with plastics, a fly-tipped mountain walk with burnt-out car, bluebell woods with truck tyres, lanes strewn with litter and an an abandoned colliery with rusty metal under the young trees.

And other guest artists.

'Cranky' Panorama Workshop led by Darren Hoskins

Darren will be making a “cranky”(a hand-drawn, hand cranked moving panorama, displayed in a box, often used for telling stories, on the theme of the River Wye.
It will show the whole course of the river, show it’ picturesque landscape, have elements of its history and how it’s being polluted and I will be asking for personal stories and images about the river from local online sources. There will be a puppetry element and it will be made with appropriate recycled materials ie in a cardboard box from one of the factory chicken farms on the river and cut out the chicken shapes. We are wanting families to become involved during the river festival in Chepstow.

Botanical Art

Featuring
Debbie Devauden
Pauline Rawlings
Sian Phillips
Sue Gubbay
Brian Griffith

We are a disparate group of artists, all of whom live around Chepstow. Drawn together by a love of art, each of us has interests in the wider natural world, as can be appreciated when looking at our work.  We met through our common membership of the Gloucestershire Society for Botanical Illustration. We all enjoy the formal discipline of this type of painting of plants and we take these techniques to other natural subjects, such as seaweeds, birds and insects.
